I heard that most of your cell phone companies AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile etc will take old phones they clean out the memory and it their fix able then they refurbish them.

Most Best Buy stores (and presumably other big box stores), have drop boxes at their entrances.

Don’t discard it. Check your local community and see if there’s a women’s shelter that will take it. Most cell phones have the ability to make free emergency calls, and if the phone needs a battery, they might have one available through another donation.
